After Kentucky, Rebecca Farm Looks to Camps, Clinics, and Flagship Event

Rebecca Farm Gears up for Shows, Clinics and Flagship Event July 21-24

Kalispell, Mont. (May 4, 2011) - An unprecedented $250,000 fund has been established with the United States Equestrian Association (USEA) Endowment Trust that will, over the next five years, offer an annual $30,000 training and competition grant to developing riders who are successfully competing at the advanced level.

The Rebecca Broussard International Developing Rider Grant is bestowed by the Broussard Family in memory of Rebecca "Becky" Broussard who passed away on December 24, 2010, and is the fulfillment of her desire to help riders achieve the goal of representing the U.S. in international team competition.

The grant was announced on April 28 in Lexington, Kentucky at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event by Chairman of the USEA Endowment Trust, Kyra King Stuart. She was joined by Rebecca's husband, Jerome, and her daughter, Sarah Broussard Kelly.

"This grant has such a far-reaching impact on the future of Eventing," said Stuart. "Becky was one of those rare individuals who always saw the bigger picture of our sport. This grant is the culmination of her vision as it ensures the development of our next generation of riders and the growth of our sport for years to come."

"My mother believed in helping riders not only at the top level, but at all levels," said Sarah Broussard Kelly. "She wanted to see the U.S. at the top of Eventing and believed that this was only possible by support and education of the nation's best riders. It is only fitting that part of this grant will go towards travel grants to help riders compete at The Event at Rebecca Farm, which she developed to be a platform for riders to move onward to international competition. By creating this grant, we hope to help riders achieve their goals and allow my mother's vision for the future of Eventing to become a reality."

Kelly and her team now begin the equestrian season with a full slate of shows and clinics which lead up to The Event at Rebecca Farm, July 21-24, 2011, celebrating its 10th anniversary this summer. May 14-15, Rebecca Farm hosts the Peter Gray Clinic, where three-time Canadian Olympian Peter Gray teaches fundamentals to developing riders. May 21-22 brings the first Hunter/Jumper Show of the season, featuring a full schedule of divisions and a wide variety of classes to compete in.

The Event at Rebecca Farm continues to mark historic milestones as the largest equestrian triathlon in the U.S. and an important stop on the road to the 2012 London Olympics. During the four days of competition July 21-24, 2011, thousands of spectators will be privileged to see some of the finest riders in the world, as well as promising young competitors who will test their skills and courage on Rebecca Farm's first class arenas and cross-country course. Admission is free, with full concessions and trade fair all four days.
